The Ohio State women’s hockey team came away with a 2-1 overtime victory Friday afternoon against Bemidji State at the Sanford Center in Bemidji, Minn.
Junior forward Ally Tarr scored unassisted 41 seconds into the overtime period to give the Buckeyes the win. It was the ninth goal of the season for the London, Ontario, product, who now has a team-leading 27 points.
Following a scoreless first, Bemidji State’s Natasha Kostenko found the back of the net to put the Beavers up 1-0 at the 2:11 mark of period two.
The Buckeyes would get the equalizer at 4:33 of the third on senior forward Tina Hollowell’s tenth goal of the season. Redshirt senior forward Kim Theut and freshman defenseman Cara Zubko picked up assists on the score.
Redshirt junior goaltender Chelsea Knapp picked up her 16th victory of the season, backstopping the Buckeyes with 19 saves. Bemidji State goaltender Abby Ryplanski stopped 18 shots for the Beavers.
Ohio State (16-9-2, 11-8-2 WCHA) and Bemidji State (5-18-2, 4-16-1 WCHA) will play the second game of the series at 2:07p.m. Saturday at the Sanford Center.
