COLUMBUS, Ohio — The No. 5 Ohio State University women’s ice hockey team skated to a scoreless draw with the St. Cloud State University Huskies, but took home the extra point in a shootout win on Saturday at the OSU Ice Rink
The Buckeyes (11-3-4, 8-2-4 WCHA) outshot the Huskies 41-to-18 in the game, but could not convert any of the shots into goals. Emma Maltais led the team with seven shots, while the trio of Maddy Field, Charly Dahlquist, and Jincy Dunne had five shots each.
Neither team found the back of the net during regulation nor in overtime, so for the second night in a row the teams went to a shootout.
After Kassidy Sauvé blocked the three SCSU shooters, Liv Halvorson took the third shot for the Buckeyes and proceeded to slap the puck past the Huskie’s goaltender to lock up the second point for Ohio State.
Sauvé finished with 18 saves, four of which came during the overtime period.
The Buckeyes get a weekend off before heading to Mercyhurst for non-conference action. That series gets underway at 7 p.m. ET on Friday, December 15.
