Ohio State Edged by Minnesota State, 2-1

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State women’s hockey was edged by Minnesota State, 2-1, Saturday afternoon in Mankato, Minn.
The Buckeyes once again lost a game after out-chancing their opponent as they put 42 shots on goal compared to Minnesota State’s 33. OSU has outshot its opponent by a combined 66 shots in the last six games but has gone just 0-5-1 in that stretch.
Senior Lisa Steffes started for Ohio State stopping 31 of 33 shots faced. Danielle Butters had a solid performance making 41 saves.
Ohio State had a one-goal lead after the first period as senior Ally Tarr scored a power play goal at 12:08 of the opening stanza. The goal was the second on the season for Tarr and assisted on by sophomore Kendall Curtis and junior Kari Schmitt. Schmitt is now tied with junior Sara Schmitt for the team lead in points this season with 11.
A power play goal from Kathleen Rogan in the second tied the game at 1-all and Tracy McCann broke the tie in the third with her seventh goal of the season. OSU finished 1-4 on the power play while Minnesota State was 1-3.
Ohio State (3-8-2, 2-8-2 WCHA) hosts Robert Morris this Tuesday at the OSU Ice Rink with game time set for 7:07 p.m.
