MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Ohio State women’s hockey team fell to No. 1 Minnesota in the semi-finals of the WCHA Final Face-Off, 5-0, Friday night at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis.

The Buckeyes finish the season with 19 victories, second-most in program history. Minnesota advances to Saturday night’s championship game against North Dakota, who prevailed against Wisconsin earlier Friday by a score of 2-1.

Minnesota took a 1-0 lead 12:29 into the first period. Maryanne Menefee scored for the Gophers, 1:33 into the game’s first power play with an assist from Milica McMillen. Hannah Brandt would make it a two-goal deficit at the 18:38 mark of the opening period after being set up by Baylee Gillanders.

Mira Jalosuo scored number three for Minnesota 6:16 into the second with an assist to Bethany Brausen and the Gophers led 3-0 after two periods of play.  

Menefee got her second goal of the game 7:02 into the third and Megan Bozek made it 5-0 six minutes at the 11:13 mark of the final period.

Redshirt junior goaltender Chelsea Knapp finished with 29 saves for the Buckeyes. Minnesota outshot Ohio State 34-24 in the contest. OSU finished 0-3 on the power play while the Gophers were 1-3.
