Buckeyes Fall to Second-Ranked Badgers, 3-0

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s hockey team battled hard but eventually fell 3-0 to the second-ranked Badgers of Wisconsin Friday night at the OSU Ice Rink.
Senior goaltender Lisa Steffes played well in net for the Buckeyes stopping 31 shots. Her counterpart, senior goaltender Alex Rigsby, stopped all 13 shots that came her way for Wisconsin.
The game was scoreless through the first 32 minutes of action before the Badgers capitalized on the power play in the second to take a 1-0 lead. Junior Brittany Ammerman found the back of the net at the 12:46 mark with assists to Courtney Burke and Blayre Turnbull.
The game stayed a one-goal margin until Wisconsin added two more scores in the final five minutes of play in the third period, one an unassisted goal from Kelly Jaminski and the other from Turnbull with an assist to Ammerman.
OSU was held scoreless on four power play opportunities while the Badgers went 1-3 with the extra attacker on the ice. Wisconsin held a 34-13 shots-on-goal advantage in the contest.
Sophomore Julia McKinnon put three shots on goal to lead the Buckeyes.
Ohio State (11-13-5, 6-12-5 WCHA) and No. 2 Wisconsin (23-3-2, 18-3-2 WCHA) play their regular season series finale Saturday at 4:07 p.m. at the OSU Ice Rink.
