Steffes, Buckeyes Skate to Scoreless Tie in Duluth

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s hockey team skated to a scoreless tie against Minnesota Duluth Saturday afternoon on the back of a shutout performance by senior goaltender Lisa Steffes at AMSOIL Arena in Duluth, Minn.
Steffes stopped all 34 shots faced throughout regulation and overtime for the Buckeyes, who were outshot 34-21 in the contest. The Amherstburg, Ontario native now has four shutouts on the season.
Minnesota Duluth controlled play throughout the first and second periods, carrying a 23-8 advantage in shots-on-goal heading into the third. The Buckeyes responded though, outshooting the Bulldogs in the third period as well as the overtime period. Senior forward Ally Tarr led the team with four shots.
Each team had a pair of power play chances but could not convert. UMD goaltender Kayla Black made 21 saves for the Bulldogs. The lone goal in the shootout came off the stick of Katerina Mrazova on the Bulldogs second attempt.
Ohio State (7-12-4, 2-11-4 WCHA) and Minnesota Duluth (11-8-4, 9-6-4 WCHA) will play their regular season series finale Sunday with game time set for 4:07 p.m. ET.
