Carey Fagan Inks Three for 2012

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio State women's gymnastics head coach Carey Fagan announced Wednesday the signing of three gymnasts to National Letters of Intent during the November early signing period. Rachel Abrams (Kingwood, Texas), Maggie Dunn (Attleboro Falls, Mass.) and Audrey Tolbert (Frederick, Md.) each signed NLIs with Ohio State for the 2013 season. All three are standout Level 10 gymnasts who have excelled in both the athletic and academic arenas throughout their high school careers.
"We are extremely excited to be adding these three strong all-arounders to our Ohio State family," Fagan said. "Each brings a vast amount of talent and experience and they will all have the ability to make a significant impact on our program right away. We're looking forward to watching our future Buckeyes excel throughout their final year of Junior Olympic competition."
Abrams, a gymnast at Rowland/Ballard Gymnastics, has been a top finisher at the Texas State meet and Region 3 Championships. In 2011, Abrams placed in the Top 10 on vault, bars, and floor at her regional meet. In the 2010 season, Abrams won the uneven bars at her state meet and placed sixth on Floor at Regionals. Abrams is the daughter of David and Kathy Abrams and is coached by Dave Ballard. She currently holds a 5.1/5.0 grade-point average at Kingwood High School, is in the top five percent of her graduating class and is interested in studying physical therapy.
Dunn, who trains at Ace Gymnastics, is a six-time Region 6 Champion and was the 2009 Junior Olympic balance beam champion. Dunn has qualified for JO Nationals six years in a row and placed in the Top 10 in the all-around in 2009 and 2010. In 2011, Dunn won vault and placed second on beam, floor and the all-around at Regionals, and placed eighth on floor at JO Nationals. Dunn is the daughter of Kevin and Donna Dunn and is coached by Laura Tebo. She has a GPA of 91/100 at Bishop Feehan High School and will graduate in the spring of 2012.
Tolbert, a gymnast at Frederick Gymnastics, is a three-time JO Nationals qualifier and current member of the Region 7 All-Star team. In both 2011 and 2010, Tolbert placed second in the all-around, third on bars and fourth on beam at the Region 7 Championship. At JO Nationals in 2011, Tolbert placed ninth on bars. Tolbert is the daughter of Barry and Margaret Tolbert and is coached by Larisa Firestone. She maintains a 3.93/4.0 GPA at Urbana High School and will major in interior design at Ohio State.
The current Buckeyes open the 2012 campaign at Minnesota at 6 p.m. Jan. 7.
