COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State women’s gymnastics head coach Carey Fagan announced Monday the signing of Andrea Vazquez to a National Letter of Intent. The Orlando, Fla., native is a standout Level 10 Gymnast from Orlando Metro Gymnastics.
“We are really excited to add Andrea to the 2013 team,” Fagan said. “She comes from an outstanding club, Orlando Metro, and will be a great addition to the team. After a knee injury in 2011, Andrea came back stronger than ever this season and finished third in the country on bars at JO Nationals. She has the potential to be an anchor for us on bars and contribute right away on beam and floor.”
In 2010 Vazquez finished second in the all-around at the Region 8 Level 10 Championships before finishing second nationally on uneven bars. After sitting out 2011 with an injury, Vazquez came back strong in 2012, posting a third-place finish on bars at Level 10 Nationals.
Vazquez joins Rachel Abrams, Maggie Dunn and Audrey Tolbert in the Buckeyes’ 2012-13 recruiting class.
