COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio State women's gymnastics head coach Carey Fagan has announced the addition of Samantha Kent, Maddie Herr and Micaela Cologie to the 2012-13 roster.
Samantha Kent, from Millville, Mass., is a Level 10 gymnast from Ocean State School of Gymnastics and trains in Rhode Island. She is the 2012 Rhode Island state champion in the all-around and recently qualified for the 2012 Junior Olympic National Championships, which will be held this weekend in Hampton, VA. The daughter of Steven & Cathy Kent, Samantha placed seventh in the all-around and fifth on beam at the Region 6 championships.
A native of Southbury, Conn., Maddie Herr also is a Level 10 gymnast and trains at Vasi's International Gymnastics. Maddie, the daughter of Rick & Connie Herr, placed third all-around at the Connecticut state meet and qualified for the 2012 National Invitational Tournament after placing ninth all-around and third on floor at the Region 6 championships.
Micaela Cologie, from Thornville, Ohio, is a Level 10 gymnast who trains at Hocking Valley Gymnastics. Micaela, the daughter of Richard & Stephanie Cologie, placed second on vault, third on beam and fifth all-around at the Ohio state meet this year. She placed eighth on vault at the 2012 Region 5 championships.
These three gymnasts will make an immediate impact on the Buckeyes' program, filling several lineup spots that the graduating seniors will leave open and adding depth on every event.
