COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s gymnastics program has added three gymnasts for the 2014 season, head coach Carey Fagan announced Friday.
Michelle Burns, a St. Louis, Mo., native, will join the Buckeyes after graduating from Cor Jesu Academy. The daughter of Terry and Linda Burns, Michelle trains at the St. Louis Gymnastics Centre where she has been a competitive Level 10 gymnast for four years. Michelle is a two-time Junior Olympic Nationals qualifier and placed fourth on vault, third on beam and second on floor at the Region 4 Championships in 2012.
Mary Hennekes, from West Chester, Ohio, attends William Mason High School and is an uneven bar specialist from Perfection Gymnastics School. The daughter of Paul and Liz Hennekes, Mary has competed at Level 10 for the past five years and placed fourth on uneven bars at the 2012 Region 5 Championships. Mary also was the 2012 Ohio uneven bar champion.
Faith Morrison is from Leesburg, Va., and attends Flint Hill School. The daughter of Darryl and JoAnn Morrison, Faith is a gymnast at Capital Gymnastics and has competed at Level 10 for four years and is a consistently-strong performer on her best event, floor exercise. This past April, Faith competed at the Region 7 Championship meet and qualified to the Junior Olympic National Championship in the All-Around, while also placing sixth on floor and eighth on vault. She will compete at the National Championships on May 10-11, which will be held in Minneapolis, Minn.
