COLUMBUS, Ohio - The No. 20 Ohio State women’s gymnastics team hosts No. 3 Michigan in a dual meet at 7 p.m. Friday in St. John Arena.
Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets are available on OhioStateBuckeyes.com. Ohio State students are free with valid Buck-ID. The Buckeyes posted a 194.675 in a dual meet last Saturday at Penn State. Sarah Miller won a pair of events, taking vault with a 9.925 and floor with a 9.875 while finishing second on beam at 9.825.
PROMOTIONS VS. MICHIGAN
Friday will mark the Buckeyes’ Pink Meet for the 2013 season. Fans also will be able to register to win two tickets to the Ohio State men’s basketball game against Indiana at 1 p.m. Sunday and the first 300 fans will receive an Ohio State women’s gymnastics water bottle.
IN THE RANKINGS
Ohio State is currently ranked 20th nationally in the GymInfo Top 25. Four other Big Ten teams are ranked including Michigan (No. 3), Nebraska (No. 9), Minnesota (No. 13) and Illinois (No. 22).
As a team, the Buckeyes are 16th nationally on vault (49.000), 21st on uneven bars (48.770) and 24th on balance beam (48.695).
Individually, Sarah Miller is 11th nationally on vault and tied for 14th on balance beam and floor exercise.
MILLER EARNS FOURTH B1G AWARD
Sarah Miller was named Big Ten Event Specialist of the Week, the conference office announced Jan. 28. The award marks the 12th career Big Ten weekly honor and fourth of the season for the Collegeville, Pa., native.
Miller won or tied for three event titles as the Buckeyes posted a season-high 195.975 in a dual meet against Nebraska. The junior tied her career best with a 9.950 to take the beam title while tying for first with a 9.925 on vault and a 9.900 on floor exercise.
Miller earned second team All-America honors on balance beam and floor exercise last season while Dean garnered second team All-America honors on floor exercise. The duo became the seventh and eighth All-Americans in Ohio State women’s gymnastics history. It is the first time the Buckeyes have had multiple All-Americans in the same season. DeLuca is a two-year letterwinnner who posted career bests of 9.850 on bars and 9.875 on floor exercise a year ago.
The Buckeyes travel to East Lansing to face Michigan State at 5 p.m. Feb. 16. The meet will be televised live on BTN.
