No. 18 Ohio State Notches 195.950-192.775 Win at Illinois State

NORMAL, Ill. - The No. 18 Ohio State women’s gymnastics team topped Illinois State, 195.950-192.775, Sunday afternoon at Horton Field House.

The Buckeyes started the meet on uneven bars, winning the event 48.800-47.675, Aly Marohn tied for the event title with a 9.825 while Rachel Abrams and Melanie Shaffer tied for third with a 9.800.

Ohio State then moved to vault, taking the event 49.100-48.200. Shaffer and Sarah Miller tied for first with a 9.850 while Marohn and Sarah Grady were knotted in third place at 9.825.

After two rotations, Ohio State held a 97.900-95.875 advantage over the Redbirds.

In the third rotation, the Buckeyes posted a 48.950 to top Illinois State’s 48.800. Miller finished second on the event while Marohn and Alex DeLuca tied for third at 9.800.

Ohio State finished the meet with a season best on balance beam, defeating the Redbirds 49.100-48.100. Miller and Marohn tied for the event title, each posting a 9.900.


 

 

Marohn won the all-around title with a career-best 39.350 while Shaffer finished second at 39.100.

The Buckeyes host Bridgeport at 4 p.m. March 9 on Senior Day in Columbus.
