COLUMBUS, Ohio - The No. 19 Ohio State women’s gymnastics team tallied a season high but No. 6 Nebraska came away with a 196.150-195.975 victory Friday evening at St. John Arena.

"I think we finally hit all four events tonight," Ohio State head coach Carey Fagan said. "So far this season we’ve had one event that has been off but tonight the team really came together and came up with four strong events. I think the team was a little more energized tonight and realized they were able to hang with the sixth-ranked team in the country."

Ohio State posted a 49.050 to open the meet on vault but Nebraska won the event with a 49.300. Sarah Miller led the Buckeyes and tied for the event title with a 9.925 while Melanie Shaffer and Aly Marohn each tallied a 9.850, a season best for Shaffer and a season best-tying score for Marohn.

The Buckeyes moved to bars in the second rotation, falling to the Huskers, 49.025-48.675. Victoria Aepli tallied a season-high 9.775 while Marohn notched a 9.750.

After two rotations, Nebraska held a 98.325-97.725 lead over the Buckeyes.

Ohio State tallied a season-best 49.075 on balance beam, narrowly edging Nebraska’s 49.025. Miller paced Ohio State again on beam, tying her career best with a 9.950 to win the event, while Marohn tallied a 9.850.

The Buckeyes finished the meet on floor exercise, topping Nebraska, 49.175- 48.800. Miller and Shaffer tied for the event title with a 9.900 but the Huskers were narrowly able to hold on to the victory.

Up next, the Buckeyes hit the road to take on Penn State at 7 p.m. Feb. 2 in State College, Pa.
