No. 19 Ohio State Posts a 194.750 to Open 2014

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The No. 19 Ohio State women's gymnastics team posted a 194.750 to open the season in a meet against No. 12 Oregon State and Bowling Green Saturday afternoon at St. John Arena. Oregon State won the meet with a 195.200 while Bowling Green finished third at 191.950.

The Buckeyes opened the meet with a 48.950 on vault to win the event, paced by a 9.850 from Sarah Miller, who won the event, and a 9.825 from Melanie Shaffer, who tied for second.

Ohio State moved to bars in the second rotation and tallied a 48.975 on the event. Shaffer led the Buckeyes with a 9.875 to win the event followed by a 9.800 from Rachel Abrams.

After two rotations, Ohio State led with a 97.825, followed by Oregon State at 97.850 and Bowling Green at 94.525.

Ohio State notched a 48.500 in the third rotation. Miller again led the Buckeyes with a 9.875 to take the event title while Shaffer posted a 9.775 to tie for third.

The Buckeyes wrapped up the meet with a 48.325. Shaffer led Ohio State with a 9.750 to tie for third and Maggie Dunn notched a 9.700.

Shaffer took the all-around title with a 39.225.



The Buckeyes host Rutgers at 2 p.m. Jan. 19 in St. John Arena.
