COLUMBUS, Ohio - Former Buckeye In Hong Lim (`11) earned 2013 LPGA Tour status in Priority Category 17 after finishing tied for 39th at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament, Nov. 28-Dec. 2. The event was held on the Champions and Legends courses at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.
The top-20 qualifiers Sunday earned Category 12 status on the 2013 Tour while players who finished 21-45 and ties earned membership in Category 17. The final stage cut to the low 70 players and ties after 72 holes. The players that made the cut competed in the final round on the Champions Course Sunday.
"It felt like I was walking on clouds for the first few hours after the tournament," Lim said. "As much as I am excited to get a start on the LPGA Tour, I also know it's just the beginning and I have to keep up my hard work for a better status."
After a tough opening round score of 79, Lim bounced back and finished strong with scores of 72-71-71-68 to finish tied for 39th with a 361. She became the 13th Buckeye to earn a spot on the LPGA Tour behind Rosie Jones, Meg Mallon, Cathy Kratzert-Gerring, Lisa Strom, Allison Hanna, Mollie Fankhauser, Amy (Langhals) Miller, Suzy Green-Roebuck, Judy Ellis Sams, Renee Powell, Cheryl Stacy and Karen Mundinger.
Former Buckeye Emma Jandel ('10) also made the final round cut, but finished 71st with a 371 (73-77-69-74-78).
