COLUMBUS, Ohio - Rising senior Rachel Rohanna opened the first round of the 2012 Jamie Farr Toledo Classic with a 3-under 68 to sit tied for 14th. The Waynesburg, Pa., product carded four birdies with one bogie for a solid round of play. Rohanna kicks off round two with a 1:45 p.m. tee time off hole No. 1.
Held at the par 71, 6,428-yard Highland Meadows Golf Club in Sylvania, Ohio, the LPGA tournament will feature some of the top names in professional golf with proceeds benefitting local charities such as Boys & Girls Clubs of Toledo and Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Classmate Amy Meier also competed in a national tournament this week, playing in the 2012 U.S. Women's Amateur Championships held at the The Country Club in Cleveland. Meier shot a 76 and a 75 for a two-day score of 151 and was only two shots from making the cut.
