West Lafayette, Ind. - The Ohio State women's golf team shot 305 for seventh place Thursday after the third round of the NCAA Championships in West Lafayette, Ind. The event is being held at the par-72 Kampen Course (6,225 yards) at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex and hosted by Purdue University. The Buckeyes are making their seventh-consecutive and 13th-overall appearance at the event.
Sophomore Kristen White shot 74 in the third round and is currently tied for 10th place on the individual leaderboard (76-77-74=227). Allison Hanna is tied for 16th place after posting a round of 78 (74-76-78=228). Lindsay Knowlton also posted a round of 74 and is tied for 22nd (78-77-74=229).
The weather Thursday included mostly sunny skies with temperatures in the high 60s. Winds blew from the north to northeast at 10 mph.
Southern California has a seven-stroke lead over second-place Pepperdine heading into the final round. Andrea Vander Lende of Florida posted a third-round score of 69 and is tied with USC's Mikaela Parmlid for first place individually with marks of 220.
The Buckeyes are 20 strokes out of first but are just four strokes away from fourth place. OSU finished tied for eighth in 1997 and eighth in 2002. The squad is looking for their highest finish in school history at the event.
