Amy Meier Earns All-Big Ten Honors
April 30, 2013
COLUMBUS, Ohio - Senior Amy Meier of the Ohio State women's golf team has been named a First Team All-Big Ten honoree, the league office announced Tuesday. The honor is the second first-team recognition for Meier, who was placed on the team in 2012.
The captain from Rochester Hills, Mich., has a team-best 74.42 stroke average on the season, leading the squad with nine rounds at even par. She has played in all 28 rounds this season with 25 rounds counting towards the team score and has a finished in the Top 20 in seven of the 11 tournaments played.
Meier's best finish this season came at both the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational in Hawai'i and at the team's own Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational in Columbus, finishing second overall. Her 1-under 216 at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational marked a career low and both runner-up finishes were career bests.
Overall, Meier has been Ohio State's top finisher in all seven spring events and in eight of the team's 11 tournaments overall. For her efforts this season, Meier was also awarded the team's Sportsmanship Award.
The Buckeyes earned their 19th-consecutive bid to an NCAA Division I Women's Golf Regional and will travel to Palo Alto, Calif., to compete in the 54-hole West Regional May 9-11.
