COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State women’s golf junior Rachel Rohanna was named Big Ten Golfer of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday. It is the first weekly honor of her career.
Rohanna put together one of the best performances of her collegiate career this past weekend and led Ohio State to the squad’s second tournament victory of the season, winning its own Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational on the OSU Golf Club’s Scarlet Course. Rohanna clinched the first individual win of her career after she carded a 4-under 212 over three rounds. That total tied a career low for Rohanna and it was a record low for the 32-year old tournament.
After opening with a 75 in the first round, Rohanna rebounded with a 3-under 69 to finish even after the first day. She came back Sunday and fired a 4-under 68 for a two-day total of 212. Rohanna was the only individual to finish the tournament under par and the only student-athlete to record scores in the 60s. She finished with 11 birdies throughout the three rounds, including four on the last day.
For her efforts, Rohanna was named the Golfweek Player of the Week on April 23.
