Buckeyes Hit the Road for Third-Annual Westbrook Spring Invite

COLUMBUS, Ohio-- The Ohio State women's golf team is set to travel to the third-annual Westbrook Spring Invitational, Feb. 23-24, in Peoria, Ariz. The two-day, 54-hole tournament, hosted by Wisconsin, will take place on the par 72, 6,269-yard Westbrook Village Golf Club Vistas Course.
A field of 14 teams hailing from six different conferences will compete in the invite. Ohio State, Wisconsin, Illinois, Nebraska, Iowa and Indiana will be in attendance representing the Big Ten.

SCHEDULE OF PLAY:
Sunday, Feb. 23 - First and Second Rounds (36) - 8:30 a.m. (shotgun start)
Monday, Feb. 24 - Third Round (18) - 8:30 a.m. (shotgun start)
The Ohio State lineup will feature three freshmen and two juniors competing for team score and one senior playing as an individual.
Leading the way are freshmen Jessica Porvasnik, Katja Pogacar and Zoe-Beth Brake. The trio is among the squad's best in stroke average with Porvasnik leading the way with a 74.33 average. Pogacar is second at 75.47 and Brake sits in third at a 76.
Juniors Jan Chanpalangsri and Claudia Lim will also compete for team score and have stroke averages of 76.73 and 77.87, respectively. Senior Allison Harper will don the Scarlet and Gray as an individual.
Porvasnik, Pogacar, Lim and Chanpalangsri have represented Ohio State in all five tournaments this season and will competing in their six of the year.
The reigning champion of the 2013 installment of the Westbrook Spring Invitational, Texas Tech, will not be returning to the links to compete. Texas Tech rounded out the invitational with a 2-under 862, while Arkansas, who will also not be in attendance, came in second with a 3-over 867. Razorback Gabriela Lopez took home the individual title with an 8-under 208.
The Buckeyes did not compete in last year's tournament.
The two-day tournament will be played on the Westbrook Village Golf Club Vistas Course in Peoria, Ariz. The par 72, 6,269-yard course is a links style golf course designed by Ken Cavannaugh. The Vistas Course features spacious fairways, larger greens and fewer trees with a unique desert/links layout.
LAST TIME ON THE LINKS
Ohio State concluded the 19th-annual Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif., on par 71, 6,017-yard Palos Verdes Golf Club, Feb. 9-11.
The Buckeyes finished the competitive tournament in 16th with a total of 913 and freshman Jessica Porvasnik tied for 28 with a 10-over 223. The challenge, hosted by Ohio State, featured an impressive field of 16 teams with 14 ranked in the top 50 at the time.
The weather will be in the lower 80s both Sunday and Monday with a no chance of precipitation on either day according to Weather.com. The first two rounds Sunday will see partly cloudy skies, while Monday's final round calls for sunny conditions.
The Buckeyes will compete in the Lady Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla., March 14-16.
