Schroeder Leads Buckeyes on First Day of Battle at the Beach

CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico – The Ohio State women’s golf team finished first-round play in 13th place at the Battle at the Beach Friday afternoon at Club Campestre San Jose Golf Course in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Niki Schroeder paced the Buckeyes with a 2-over 73 while Jaclyn Lee posted a 3-over 74 and Alanis Sakuma added a 4-over 75.

Schroeder made a team-high four birdies on the day to tie her lowest round of the year while Lee bounced back from a 5-over front nine to tally an eagle and a birdie en route to a 2-under back nine. Sakuma, a freshman from Kapolei, Hawaii, carded the best round of her young career, recording three birdies on the day.

Rio Watanabe added an 8-over 79 while Sofia Seldemirova posted an 11-over 82 and Adeena Shears rounded out the Ohio State lineup with a 12-over 83.
