Ohio State Opens NCAA West Regional Tied for 12th

PALO ALTO, Calif. - The No. 37 Ohio State women's golf team opened the 2013 NCAA West Regional with an 17-over 317 Thursday on the par 71, 6,267-yard Stanford Golf Course in Palo Alto, Calif., to tie for 12th.
Vanderbilt leads the field with a 5-over 289 after the first round, while USC's Annie Park is on top of the individual leaderboard with a 4-under 67.
Senior Amy Meier posted two birdies on the back nine to lead the Buckeyes with a 2-over 73 and end the first round tied for 22nd. Sophomore Jan Chanpalangsri carded a 4-over 75 to tie for 46th, while senior Susana Benavides is a stroke back after tallying a 5-over 76 to finish tied for 63rd place.
Play continues Friday with wave one teeing off at 7:30 a.m. PT, with wave two slated to start at 11:50 a.m. PT. The top eight teams and two individuals from each of the three regional championships (East, West, Central) will advance to the national championship held May 21-24 at the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Ga.
