Ohio State Finishes Fourth after Day One of Lady Buckeye Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 36 Ohio State women’s golf team finished fourth after the first two rounds of play at the 33rd-annual Lady Buckeye Invitational in Columbus. Eleven squads joined the Buckeyes on the par 72, 6,268-yard Scarlet Course at The Ohio State University Golf Club.
The final round will get a late start tomorrow, beginning at 10 a.m. ET Sunday with a shotgun start because of anticipated morning fog.
After 36 holes, Purdue leads the field with a score of 29-over 605. Boilermaker Laura Gonzalez posted a 2-over 146 to move into first place heading into the final round. Northwestern’s Elizabeth Szokol notched the only under-par round of the day with a 1-under 71 in the second round..
Senior Amy Meier and junior Allison Harper lead the Buckeyes with Top 10 finishes after two rounds. Meier, who scored a 7-over 79 in the first round, responded with an even 72 to tie for fifth with a 7-over 151. Harper tallied one birdie in the second round to tie for eighth with a 9-over 153. The Upper Arlington, Ohio, native carded a 78 and 75 in the first two rounds, respectively.
Senior Susana Benavides tallied a team-high three birdies in the second round to finish tied for 28th with a score of 13-over 157. Sophomore Jan Chanpalangsri tied for 22nd with a 12-over 156 after rounds of 81 and 75.
Sophomore Claudia Lim notched back-to-back birdies on holes 12 and 13 in the second round to score a 7-over 79 in the round, en route to a 15-over 159 to tie for 41st. Sophomore Sheridan Balyeat carded a 21-over 167 after two rounds to tie for 59th place.
