Buckeyes Finish Second at Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State women's golf team earned a second-place finish with a three-round total of 900 at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational. The Buckeyes closed out the tournament Wednesday with a 304 in round three on the par 72, 6,099-yard Kane'ohe Klipper Golf Course in O'ahu, Hawai'i.
Arizona captured the team title with an 11-over 875, while Wildcat Manon Gidali took the individual title with a 3-under 213.
Senior Amy Meier led the Buckeyes with a second-place finish following rounds of 71-72-72. Her 54-hole score of 1-under 215 set a new career-low score for the Rochester Hills, Mich., product. Overall, Meier tied for a tournament-best with 12 birdies over three rounds.
A pair of Buckeyes in senior Susana Benavides and junior Allison Harper finished tied for 20th with a 13-over 229. Harper's 54-hole score of 229 was a season-low for the Upper Arlington native. Sophomore Jan Chanpalangsri came in tied for 24th with a 15-over 231 and classmate Claudia Lim carded a 16-over 232 to tie for 28th.
Up next, the Buckeyes will compete in the SMU/Dallas Athletic Club Invitational April 5-6 in Dallas.
