Ohio State Finishes First Round at Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s golf team carded an 11-over 299 in round one of the 2013 Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Golf Championship Sunday. The Buckeyes are joined by 15 top 50 teams in the tournament held at the par 72, 6105-yard English Turn Golf & Country Club course in New Orleans.
Tulane, who is hosting the tournament, sits atop the team and individual leaderboards after one round of play. The Pelicans lead all teams with a 6-under 282, while Emily Penttila notched a 5-under 67 to sit in first place. Duke and UCLA are each one stroke behind the Pelicans with a 5-under 283.
Senior Amy Meier tallied a team-high four birdies on the day to finish with a 2-under 70. She is currently tied for 7th place. Sophomore Claudia Lim notched three birdies en route to a 3-over 75. Allison Harper is tied for 63rd after posting a 4-over 76.
Round two of the tournament is slated to start at 9 a.m. tomorrow with a shotgun start. Live scoring will be available on www.GolfStat.com.
