Porvasnik, Buckeyes Enjoy Solid Start to Westbrook Spring Invite

COLUMBUS, Ohio-- The Ohio State women's golf team concluded a record-setting first day of the Westbrook Spring Invitational second with a 17-under 559 on the par 72, 6,269-yard Westbrook Village Golf Club Vistas Course. Following a first round of 281, the team tied a program record with a 278 in round two.
Ohio State freshman Jessica Porvasnik put together a record-breaking day on the course and sits on top of the individual leaderboard with a two-round total of 12-under 132. The Hinckley, Ohio, product opened the day with a 7-under 65, breaking the 11-year single round program record of 66. That mark was first set by Kristen White in 2003 and again by White in 2004. In the first round, Porvasnik totaled eight birdies with only one bogey.
Porvasnik followed with a 5-under 67 in round two. After opening with a birdie on the first hole, she earned the first hole-in-one of her career on the par 3, 163-yard second hole using an 8-iron. Porvasnik added two more birdies in the round and finished even on the back nine.
Three other Buckeyes concluded the day under par in freshmen Zoe-Beth Brake and Katja Pogacar and senior Allison Harper. Brake finished tied for fourth overall with a 4-under 140 following rounds of 72 and 68. Her second round score set a new career-low and the Whakatane, New Zealand, product totaled eight birdies over two rounds.
Harper, competing as an individual, is tied for sixth at 3-under 141 with rounds of 71-70. Her 70 set a career-best. Pogacar is tied for 10th overall with a 2-under 142 and also notched a career-low score of 69 in round two.
Juniors Claudia Lim and Jan Chanpalangsri closed out the Buckeye lineup with a 147 and 148, respectively. Lim is tied for 36th after rounds of 71 and 76, while Chanpalangsri finished with a pair of 74s.
Oregon leads a field of 14 teams with a 23-under 553. College of Charleston is third at 5-under 571, while tournament host Wisconsin is fourth with a 2-under 574.
The final round of the Westbrook Spring Invitational starts Monday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
