Playing in the LPGA's oldest major championship as a teenager, Jessica Porvasnik posted a two-round total of 161 (79-82) on Pinehurst #2 in the U.S. Women's Open. The rising sophomore recorded par or better on 17 holes, including back-to-to birdies as she made the turn on day one.

Ohio State head women's golf coach Therese Hession finalized the 2014-15 playing schedule this week. The Buckeyes are slated to compete in 10 regular season tournaments before getting postseason action started at the Big Ten Championships April 24-26.

Ohio State women's golf head coach Therese Hession is the 2014 Golfweek National Coach of the Year, announced the publication on Tuesday (June 17). It marks the second national award of Hession's career, earning the same recognition from the National Golf Coaches Association in 1997.

She will play alongside professional golfers, Weiling Hsu and Erica Popson, for the first two rounds Thursday and Friday. The threesome tees off at 6:56 a.m. Thursday before going off Hole #10 at 12:41 p.m. on Friday.

Freshman golfer Jessica Porvasnik earned national recognition on Thursday (May 29), selected by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) for its Honorable Mention All-American Team. The Buckeye is one of 40 student-athletes nationally to comprise the First, Second and Honorable Mention All-American squads.

Ohio State had a league-high 184 student-athletes placed on the Academic All-Big Ten Team for spring and at-large sports, including three members of the Buckeye women's golf team. In all, 1,216 spring and at-large sports student-athletes from around the conference were recognized.

The Ohio State women's golf team finished in a tie for seventh place at the 2014 NCAA Championships. It marks the Buckeyes third-best NCAA showing in school history and top effort since the 2005 Buckeyes shared sixth place.
