Columbus, Ohio – Maartje Bongers (economics), Morgan Kile (sport industry) and Maggie Reddecliff (communications) of the Ohio State field hockey program all earned their bachelor’s degrees on Sunday (Dec. 17) at the Schottenstein Center. In addition to the three graduates, 15 current Buckeyes were named to the 2017 Academic All-Big Ten team.
Bongers and Kile wrapped up their playing careers in 2017. Bongers, a native of The Netherlands, had a career year on the offensive end of the field; she scored a career-high five goals and registered the second-most points on the team with 16. Kile scored two goals during the 2017 season helping Ohio State beat No. 9 Louisville at home and aiding in a road win over Ohio. Reddecliff tallied four-career points for the Scarlet and Gray, including a career-best three points in her final season in 2016.
Of the 15 Buckeyes who garnered all-academic honors in the Big Ten, Kelsey Nolan was recognized for maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA; she is majoring in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. The other 14 Buckeyes recognized were Bongers, Lauren Carroll, Casey Cole, Courtney Daniels, Natalie Faust, Sofia Haramis, Whitney Harris, Maddy Humphrey, Kile, Adelaide Penzone, Genevieve Penzone, Caroline Rath, Liz Tamburro and Carolina Vergroesen.
