Three Buckeyes Earn NFHCA All-West Region Honors

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Three members of the Ohio State field hockey team have earned All-West Region honors from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association, the NFHCA announced Thursday. Danica Deckard was named to the first team, while Paula Pastor-Pitarque and Berta Queralt were second-team selections.
Deckard adds the honor to her second team All-Big Ten award. The senior forward has been named all-region in back-to-back seasons after being named to the second team in 2011. Deckard, a native of Selinsgrove, Pa., finished at the top of multiple offensive categories in the Big Ten, including third in shots (105) and shots per game (5.83), tied for third in gamewinners (5), seventh in points (33) and eighth in points per game (1.78). Deckard led the team with 33 points on 13 goals and seven assists with 10 multi-point performances in 2012.
Pastor-Pitarque, a native of Barcelona, Spain, was tabbed second team All-Big Ten honors for the second time in her career and third time overall. A 2012 First Team All-Big Ten selection, Pastor-Pitarque collected 18 points on eight goals and two assists in 2012. The senior midfielder started in all 19 games. In her career, she notched 20 goals on 14 assists for 54 points in 62 games played.
Queralt, a native of Barcelona, Spain, earned second team honors after being named a second team All-Big Ten selection. The senior forward picks up her fourth-consecutive all-region honor. In the Big Ten, Queralt was fifth in goals per game (0.80), sixth in shots per game (3.353), seventh in points per game (1.93) and eight in points (29). She concluded her OSU career in the Top 5 of multiple offensive categories in school history, including points (146), goals (49) and assists (48).
