Ohio State Set To Close Regular Season

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State field hockey team will conclude the 2013 regular season when it takes on No. 12 Northwestern at 3 p.m. on Friday afternoon at NU's Lakeside Field.

MAKE B1G PLANS
Ohio State is the host of the 2013 Big Ten Field Hockey Championships, scheduled for Nov. 7-10 at Buckeye Varsity Field. Action will kick off on Thursday with three quarterfinal matches, followed by two semifinal contests on Friday and the championship match on Sunday. Wednesday contests will be streamed on BTN.com with the semifinals and final matches appearing on BTN.

BUCKEYES IN A NUTSHELL
• The Buckeyes sit at 5-11 on the season after a 5-4 overtime loss to Indiana on Senior Day last Saturday. Ohio State has wins over UNH, Missouri State, Ball State, Kent State and Ohio.
• Ohio State's leading scorer is senior Peanut Johnson, who has registered a season-high 19 points (nine goals, one assist). The Buckeyes' 32 goals have come from 11 different players.
• Of the 89 points scored this year by Ohio State, 61.7% has come from underclassmen.
• In addition to Johnson, Ohio State has also received offensive contributions from Mona Frommhold (six goals, three assists, 15 points), Nora Murer (three goals, four assists, 10 points) and Nina Laudahn (two goals, six assists, 10 points).
• On defense, junior goalkeeper Sarah Lemieux has started 14 games with 66 saves and a 2.82 goals-against average. Lemieux's 66 saves ranks third in the Big Ten.
• Head coach Anne Wilkinson is in her 18th year at the helm of the Buckeye program. Last year, she became the first coach in program history to top the 200-win milestone.


 

 

A LOOK AT NORTHWESTERN
The Wildcats enter Friday's game with a 14-4 record and 4-1 mark in Big Ten play. The last time out, Northwestern defeated Central Michigan 2-0 for its fourth win in the last five games. The Wildcats are led offensively by Nikki Parsley, who has 12 goals and two assists on the season for a team-high 26 points. Five other Northwestern players have registered double-digit points. In goal, Maddy Carpenter has a 1.09 goals-against average and .718 save percentage.

BUCKEYES VS. WILDCATS
Ohio State and Northwestern have played 54 times with the series currently even at 26-26-2. Last year, the Buckeyes upset the 10-ranked Wildcats, 3-2, in Columbus.
