COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State field hockey team begins a four-game homestand this week, hosting Kent State at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Buckeye Varsity Field. The Buckeyes (4-3, 0-0 Big Ten) will then open the Big Ten schedule against No. 10 Northwestern at 3:30 p.m. Friday before wrapping up the weekend vs. Missouri State at Noon Sunday.

BUCKEYES IN A NUTSHELL
Senior forward Danica Deckard leads the squad with five goals and 10 points, while classmate Berta Queralt has three points on one goal and an assist. As a team, Ohio State is averaging 15.9 shots per game, while holding opponents to 1.43 goals per game. The Buckeyes are outshooting their opponents, 59-30, in the second half and are 4-1 in away games. Junior goalkeeper Emma Voelker is 4-3 overall with a 1.34 goals-against average, three shutouts and a .756 save percentage.
LAST TIME OUT
Ohio State improved to 4-1 in away games after defeating Bucknell, 3-1, Sept. 16 in Lewisburg, Pa. The Buckeyes struck first when senior captain Danica Deckard found the back of the net at 14:41 with assists from fellow captains Berta Queralt and Laura Napolitano. Ohio State made it 2-0 following a goal at 32:01 on a penalty corner when freshman Emma Royce tallied her first career goal on a corner. Junior Paula Pastor-Pitarque sealed the win after she scored her first goal of 2012 at 65:14 when she fired a shot into the top left of the cage. The OSU backfield was strong throughout the contest, limiting the Bison to 11 shots and six penalty corners.

QUERALT'S CAREER NUMBERS
Senior forward Berta Queralt posted her first goal of 2012 vs. Miami Sept. 9 to up her career total to 38 goals. A two-time All-American, Queralt leads all active Buckeyes in several offensive categories, including points (120), goals (38), assists (44) and gamewinners (11).
With one assist, Queralt will tie former Buckeye Saskia Mueller (2003-06) for second on the OSU all-time assists list, while tying Linda Haussener (2005-08) for fifth on the OSU all-time points list.
Senior captain Danica Deckard leads the team in points in 2012. Deckard, a native of Selinsgrove, Pa., has scored five of nine goals for the team. She is tied for second in shots per game (7.83), fourth in shots (47), tied for seventh in goals (5) and tied for tenth in points (10) in the Big Ten. Deckard helped the Buckeyes claim their first win of the season after scoring the lone goal in the 1-0 shutout win at UNH Aug. 26 in Durham, N.H., before tallying two goals in the 2-0 shutout victory at American Aug. 31 in Washington, D.C. Last time out, Deckard notched the team's first goal vs. Bucknell Sept. 16.
SCOUTING KENT STATE
Kent State travels to Columbus with a 4-5 overall record, falling to No. 2 Syracuse last time out on the road. Offensively, the Golden Flashes are led by Julia Hofmann, who has 15 points on a team-high seven goals and one assist. Shannon Martin and Rebecca Lee each have four goals. The squad averages 14.2 shots per game and has collected 62 penalty corners through nine games.
OHIO STATE VS. KENT STATE
The Buckeyes hold a 19-6 all-time record vs. the Golden Flashes. Last time out, Ohio State defeated Kent State, 4-1, on the road during the 2011 campaign. The Scarlet and Gray have won four out of the last five meetings.

A LOOK AT NORTHWESTERN
The Wildcats, ranked tenth in the latest Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll, are 8-1 overall and have won six-consecutive games, including four against ranked opponents. Offensively, Northwestern is led by 2011 All-American Chelsea Armstrong, who leads the conference with 30 points, 13 goals and five gamewinning goals. The senior forward is fifth in the country in points per game (2.62) and goals per game (1.14). Junior Tara Puffenberger follows with 24 points on 10 goals and four assists. Offensively, the Wildcats rank fifth in the nation in scoring margin (2.89), seventh in scoring average (4) and eighth in goals per game (4). Sophomore goalkeeper Maddy Carpeneter is 6-1 overall with a 1.65 goals-against average and a .763 save percentage.
OHIO STATE VS. THE WILDCATS
Northwestern leads the all-time series vs. the Buckeyes, 26-25-2. Last time out, Ohio State shut out the Wildcats, 3-0, Oct. 28 in Evanston, Ill. The Buckeyes have won 23 of the last 24 games against Northwestern. The Scarlet and Gray are 22-1 vs. the Wildcats under 17th-year head coach Anne Wilkinson.

PREVIEWING MISSOURI STATE
The Bears are 2-5 overall and have wins over Saint Louis and Georgetown this season. Missouri State is guided offensively by Hilary Lawless, who has five points on two goals and an assist, while Olivia Nicotera and Laura Tavares each have collected four points. Ten different Missouri State players have notched at least one point in 2012. The Bears are allowing 4.43 goals per game and 22.4 shots per game this season.

The Buckeyes hold a 5-2 all-time record vs. Missouri State. The two teams last met during the 2007 season with the Scarlet and Gray claiming a 5-0 win in Columbus.
WILKINSON CLAIMS WIN NO. 200
Head coach Anne Wilkinson, who is in her 17th season at the helm of the Buckeyes, picked up her 200th victory at Ohio State after the squad posted its first win of the season in shutout fashion, downing No. 18 UNH, 1-0, Aug. 26 in Durham, N.H. With the win, Wilkinson becomes the first coach in program history to hit the 200-win mark.
Senior captain Danica Deckard scored the eventual gamewinner at 29:47 when she redirected a UNH back pass inside the right post of the cage. Deckard, a native of Selinsgrove, Pa., has two goals and four points to lead the team.
The Ohio State defense was solid throughout the entire competition, limiting the UNH offense to seven shots and four penalty corners. The OSU backfield did not allow a shot or corner attempt in the final 20 minutes of regulation.
VOELKER CLAIMS FIRST CAREER WIN
Junior goalkeeper Emma Voelker posted her first career victory in front of the cage in the team's 1-0 shutout over No. 18 UNH. Voelker, a native of Timonium, Md., made four saves vs. the Wildcats in 70 minutes of action. After seven games, she is tied for first in shutouts (3), fourth in goals-against average (1.34) and tied for fourth in saves (31) in the conference.
