COLUMBUS, Ohio – Peanut Johnson, a rising sophomore on the Ohio State field hockey team, placed first at at the U21 Women’s National Championship June 21-25 at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex in Norfolk, Va. Playing with the U-21 North team, Johnson tallied one goal during the team’s undefeated 3-0-1 record at the tournament.
“I’m very grateful to have had the opportunity to play against some of the best talent in the nation and learn from some great coaches,” Johnson said. “I hope I can use this experience to help our team to a great season this year. I’m thankful for all the support from my coaches and teammates and look forward to the beginning of camp in August.”
Johnson, a native of Dayton, Ohio, posted 15 points on six goals and three assists in 18 games in 2012. Johnson was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week Sept. 25 after collecting seven points on three goals and one assist. The OSU forward will look to help guide the 2013 Buckeyes that return 14 letterwinners this fall.
