Buckeyes Set to Host Team Victoria Clinic on Sunday
April 8, 2014
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State field hockey program will unite behind Victoria, a 14-year-old from New Albany, this Sunday when it hosts the Team Victoria Clinic at Buckeye Varsity Field.
A freshman at New Albany High School, Victoria is an avid field hockey player and helped her team, Hartland’s U-14, placed third in the top bracket at Disney’s Junior Field Hockey Showcase. In September of 2013, she was diagnosed with DIPG, an inoperable brain tumor.
To support Victoria and her family, Ohio State, Kent State and Miami will be holding a clinic on Sunday, April 13 that will include instruction from current student-athletes. The event gets started at 9 a.m. with a scrimmage between Ohio State and Kent State, followed at 10:30 by a U14 clinic. At noon, Kent State and Miami will scrimmage and at 1:30 the U16 clinic gets underway. The day is rounded out at 3 p.m. when the Buckeyes and Redhawks scrimmage, followed by the U18 clinic at 4:30. While it is recommended that players attend their scheduled age clinic, each clinic is open to any boy of girl ages 8-18.
A minimum $20 donation to Team Victoria is required to participate in the clinics and all proceeds will be donated to Team Victoria.
