Four Earn ZAG Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I Scholar of Distinction Honors

COLUMBUS, Ohio – On the heels of having 12 members of the ZAG Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad, four student-athletes were named as Scholars of Distinction on Wednesday. To be eligible, they had to of achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher through the first semester of the 2015-16 academic year.

Ohio State’s honorees are Natalie Faust, Rachel Gaines, Courtney Daniels and Carolina Vergroesen.

Faust, from Lutherville, Md. and a sport industry major, played in 18 games last year and took four shots, three of which were on goal.

Gaines is a freshman microbiology major from Dayton, Ohio who played scholastically at Kettering Fairmont. Also a freshman, Daniels is a marketing major who appeared in 12 games last fall, making two starts and scoring one goal. She is from Virginia Beach, Va.

Vergroesen, who was a newcomer to the Buckeyes last year after transferring from Rider University, started all 19 games as a midfielder/back, playing an average of 69 out of 70 minutes per game. She is studying international business administration.
