COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State field hockey team looks ahead to a new season and will face a tough slate of opponents this fall with seven games against teams that advanced to the 2012 NCAA Tournament. The Buckeyes will play eight home contests at Buckeye Varsity Field, while also serving as host to the 2013 Big Ten Field Hockey Tournament Nov. 7-10 in Columbus.

The Buckeyes will begin the 2013 season with two road contests at Temple University at the Conference Cup as the Owls host Ohio State, Maryland and UNH Aug. 31-Sept. 1 in Ambler, Pa. The team will then open their home schedule against Missouri State Sept. 6 and Bucknell Sept 8. In between, the Scarlet and Gray will serve as a neutral site, hosting Bucknell vs. Missouri State Sept. 7.

Ohio State will then go on the road for a five-game road swing, first to New York where the team will play against UMass Sept. 14 before taking on Syracuse Sept. 15. The Orange advanced to the NCAA Semifinals in 2012.

After the Syracuse trip, Ohio State continues the road schedule, traveling to play two in-state opponents at Miami Sept. 18 and at Kent State Sept. 24. The Buckeyes then compete against their first Big Ten opponent to conclude the road trip Sept. 28 as they face Michigan State.

The Scarlet and Gray return home for two games, hosting Louisville Oct. 1 and then their second in-state opponent Ohio University Oct. 6. Big Ten action will resume as the Buckeyes travel to Penn State Oct. 11 followed by two home games against two NCAA tournament teams vs. Iowa Oct. 18 and conference-rival Michigan Oct. 20, respectively.

Ohio State will see a brief break in Big Ten play when they travel to play Ball State Oct. 23 and then will finish out the 2013 season with two in-conference opponents, playing home vs. Indiana  Oct. 26 and on the road at Northwestern Nov. 2.

Ohio State will host the 2013 Big Ten tournament for the fifth time in school history Nov. 7-Nov. 10. The Buckeyes have previously hosted the conference championship in 2007, 2002, 1999 and 1994.

The first and second rounds of the 2012 NCAA Tournament will be held Nov. 16-17 at a site to be determined, while the NCAA semifinals and national championship game will be played Nov. 22-24 at Old Dominion University.
