COLUMBUS, Ohio – Junior Arielle Cowie of the Ohio State field hockey team has been selected to compete on the Trinidad and Tobago National Team at the World Cup Qualifier in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Cowie will look to help the squad claim one of 12 World League qualifications spots for the 2014 World Cup March 4-10.
“We have had several athletes go on to play for their National teams,” head coach Anne Wilkinson said. “We are proud that Arielle will be representing The Ohio State University in the World League, and I know there is no prouder moment for her then to represent her country of Trinidad and Tobago.”
A 2012 Second All-Big Ten selection, Cowie has played in 50 games since joining the Buckeyes during the 2010 campaign. Last season, she was a part of the OSU midfield that limited opponents to 10. 2 shots per game 1.67 goals per game.
