Columbus, Ohio – Ohio State field hockey alumni Linda Haussener and Nora Murer are currently representing Switzerland at the 2018 Indoor Hockey World Cup in Berlin, Germany. The tournament began on Wednesday and runs through Sunday.
Haussener and Murer helped the Swiss to a 3-2 record in pool play and they will face off against Ukraine at 5:30 a.m. ET on Saturday morning in the quarterfinals. Fans interested in watching the action live can do so on the International Hockey Federation’s YouTube page.
Haussener played for the Scarlet and Gray from 2005-08 and she served as the team captain twice during that stretch. A native of Baden, Swizterland, Haussener led the Buckeyes in goals (20) and assists (12) during her senior campaign that saw the Buckeyes achieve a record of 14-7. Tallying a total of 52 points as a senior, she was named the 2008 Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Year. She was also named a 2008 NFHCA First Team All-American, becoming one of only eight athletes in program history to achieve that status.
During her brilliant four-year career, Haussener racked up the sixth-most points in program history with 121. A 2009 Big Ten Medal of Honor winner, her 45 career goals are the sixth most in program history. She amassed a whopping 78 starts during her time as a Buckeye, a number that ranks as the fourth most in program history.
Murer lettered from 2010-13 and she played in all 23 games her freshman season during the Buckeyes run to the Final Four. She was a four-time NFHCA national academic honoree and four-time OSU scholar-athlete; she also earned Big Ten All-Academic honors for three years. Murer started the final 49 games of her career and scored three goals to go along with four assists for 10 points as a senior.
