COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State forward Tori McCoy missed just one shot in two Buckeye victories last week and has been named the Big Ten’s Freshman of the Week.
The Champaign, Ill., native averaged 21 points and 8.5 rebounds over the two games and was 17-of-18 from the floor (94.4 percent) including 16 makes in a row. She tied the OSU single-game record by going 10-of-10 from the floor in the win over Southern on Dec. 7. In that game, she scored a season-high 25 points and blocked three shots. She then made her first six shots on Sunday against Canisuis before finishing with 17 points and 11 rebounds for the first double-double of her career.
This is the first B1G weekly honor for McCoy. She is the first Buckeye freshman to take home the award since Kelsey Mitchell and Alexa Hart nabbed the award a combined eight times during the 2014-15 season.
