Alston Named B1G Player of the Week
Alston averaged 33 points and shot over 67 percent from the floor last week.
COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio State junior guard Ameryst Alston has been named the Big Ten Player of the Week in recognition of her stellar start to the season. The Canton, Ohio, native averaged 33 points in the two games including a career-high 39-point performance against St. Francis on Sunday.
Alston started the year with a team-high 27 points on 5-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc in the season-opener against Virginia on Friday. She was also 6-of-6 from the free throw line and grabbed four rebounds against the Cavaliers.
On Sunday against St. Francis, Alston was a career-best 15-of-18 from the floor and 4-of-5 from the three-point line en route to posting a career-best 39 points. She dished-out six assists to go along with nine rebounds. For the week, Alston averaged 33 points, 6.5 rebounds and shot over 67 percent from the floor.
This was her second weekly Big Ten honor of her career as she took home the award on Jan. 13, last season.
Alston and the Buckeyes will take on SEC-foe Georgia on Wednesday night at Value City Arena. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
