Chelsea Mitchell Will Miss 14-15 Season With Knee Injury
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State head coach Kevin McGuff announced Friday that freshman Chelsea Mitchell is expected to miss the 2014-15 season. Mitchell suffered a torn ACL in practice last week and will undergo surgery.
“This is certainly an unfortunate injury for Chelsea and for our team,” McGuff said. “She had done a great job since she got here to put herself in a position to help us this year. We look forward to supporting her now and after her surgery so that she can make a full recovery.”
As a senior at Princeton High School last season, Mitchell played a key role in helping the Vikings to a 28-2 record and an Ohio Division I State title. She averaged 7.0 points and 1.8 rebounds per game last season and was named a 2014 Cincinnati Enquirer Division I All-Star.
