Big Ten Announces 2014 Conference Schedule

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Big Ten office today announced the conference slate for the 2014 women's basketball season. Ohio State's single-game opponents include home games with Illinois, Nebraska and Northwestern and road games at Indiana, Minnesota and Wisconsin. The Buckeyes will face Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State and Purdue twice.
After their challenging non-conference schedule, which was announced July 16, the Buckeyes will open Big Ten play Jan. 2 vs. Purdue followed by a Jan. 5 date with Michigan. The Buckeyes then hit the road for two games at Indiana and Penn State before hosting three of the next four at Value City Arena vs. Iowa (Jan. 19), Michigan State (Jan. 26) and Illinois (Jan. 30) with a road game at Michigan sandwiched in between Jan. 23.
Ohio State will then play five of its final eight games on the road in February and March, beginning with two straight at Wisconsin (Feb. 2) and Purdue (Feb. 6). Penn State visits Value City Arena Sunday, Feb. 9 and the Buckeyes will have the week off before traveling to East Lansing for a Saturday showdown with Michigan State in East Lansing Feb. 15. Nebraska (Feb. 20) and Northwestern (Feb. 23) will conclude the home schedule before the Buckeyes close out the regular-season with consecutive road games at Iowa (Feb. 27) and Minnesota (March 2).
The 2014 Big Ten Tournament returns to Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind., March 6-9.
Television designations will be announced at a later date once they are confirmed by the Big Ten.
An exhibition with Bellarmine University is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 3 at VCA. More details on this game will be made as they become available.
