COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s basketball team will host the Miami Hurricanes in the 2016 ACC/Big Ten Challenge this season. The game will be played on Dec. 1 at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus. Game time will be determined at a later date.

This will be the first meeting between Ohio State and Miami since 1986. The teams have met just two previous times with the Buckeyes winning each of the two games. OSU won 91-63 on Dec. 17, 1982 at the Lady Brahman Christmas Classic in Tampa, Fla., and 79-75 on Dec. 27, 1986 in Miami at the Orange Bowl Invitational.

Miami was 24-9 last season and finished fifth in the ACC with a 10-6 record. The Hurricanes advanced to the semifinals of the ACC Tournament and lost in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament to South Dakota State. Miami returns six of its top-7 scorers from this past season including its leading scoring in rising senior Adrianne Motley who averaged 15.7 points per game.

The 2016 season will mark the 10th playing of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The Buckeyes are 2-9 all-time in the Challenge with wins over Virginia and Florida State in 2010 and 2011, respectively. Last season, Ohio State lost 75-72 at No. 3 Notre Dame in a hotly contested game.
