Columbus, Ohio -- Former Buckeye guard Amber Stokes will report to training camp this weekend with the WNBA's San Antonio Silver Stars. Her agent, Matthew C. Krejci, of MK Sports and Entertainment LLC (Dublin, Ohio) said the deal was signed yesterday and Stokes is ready to showcase her abilities against the best players in the world.
"Amber is in great shape and will have an opportunity to prove herself at the highest level next week in training camp," Krejci said.
Dan Hughes, head coach of the Silver Stars, followed Stokes' career at Ohio State and looks forward to seeing the 2011-12 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year compete for a spot on the Silver Stars roster.
Stokes appeared in the NCAA Tournament three of her four years with the Buckeyes, including a run to the Sweet 16 during her sophomore season. She averaged 8.9 points per game during her senior campaign and was named to the Big Ten All Defensive Team. Stokes is a product of Lincoln High School, Gahanna, Ohio.
