Kelsey Mitchell Named WBCA All-Region

March 25, 2015

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio State freshman Kelsey Mitchell was named one of 52 WBCA All-Region honorees on Wednesday. She is one of just three freshmen on the list of nominees.

From the All-Region nominees, the Women Basketball Coaches Association Selection Committee will select the 10-member WBCA Division I Coaches' All-America Team.

Mitchell was nothing short of spectacular this season. She scored a B1G and OSU single-season record 873 points and will likely become the first freshman to ever lead the NCAA in scoring for a season. She also made an NCAA single-season record 127 three-point field goals.

But it wasn't all about scoring for Mitchell. The B1G Co-Player of the Year also led the team with 146 assists which is an average of more than four per game. She also had a team-high 59 steals.

Mitchell is looking to become just the seventh Buckeye to earn WBCA All-America honors. The 2015 WBCA Division I Coaches' All-America Team will be announced at 1:10 p.m. ET Saturday April 4, during NCAA Women's Final Four Super Saturday festivities in Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla.
