COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State freshman Kelsey Mitchell was named one of 10 semifinalists for the Naismith Trophy presented by AT&T on Tuesday.

The Naismith Trophy is awarded to the NCAA Division I women’s Player of the Year. Mitchell is the only freshman on the list of semifinalists.

Mitchell was named the Big Ten Co-Player of the Year and was the unanimous Freshman of the Year in the conference. She has led the conference in scoring since late November and she has been in the top-3 in scoring nationally almost as long. Mitchell has scored in double-figures in all 30 games and is averaging 24.5 points per contest. Her 110 three-pointers are a new OSU single-season school-record and she is just two away from the Big Ten single-season record.

Nationally, Mitchell not only leads the country in three-point field goals but also tops the country with 736 points. That is the third-most points in a single-season in school history. She has been named the national Freshman of the Week twice in addition to being named the B1G Freshman of the Week seven times. Mitchell also leads the Buckeyes with 124 assists and 53 steals.

The four finalists for the Naismith Trophy presented by AT&T will be announced on Friday, March 20 and the winner will be announced during the Women’s Final Four on Monday, April 6.
