COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State signee Tori McCoy (Champaign, Ill./Saint Thomas More) has been named one of 10 semi-finalists for the Naismith Trophy Girls High School Player of the Year.
McCoy, a 6-4 center, is a consensus five-star recruit and the only center on the list of semi-finalists. She is averaging 19.9 points and 7.4 rebounds per game while shooting over 70 percent for St. Thomas More High School. McCoy has also been named a McDonald’s All-American and has been selected to play in the McDonald’s All-American game on March 30.
The Naismith Award Girls High School Player of the Year has been presented annually to the girls high school player who achieves the greatest success on the court since 1987. No Buckeye signee has even won the award.
St. Thomas More, who is 17-7 on the season, has one more regular season game this Saturday before starting its run in the IHSA State Tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 16.
