COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State guard Kelsey Mitchell has been named to the Nancy Lieberman Award Top-10 as announced by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Monday. Now in its sixteenth year, the award recognizes the top point guard in women’s NCAA Division I college basketball.
Mitchell was finalist for the award last season as a freshman. This year, she is leading the team and is fifth in the country in scoring at 24.7 points per game. She has also dished-out 76 assists and has a team-leading 41 steals. Taking into account her points and assists, Mitchell has had her hand in over 38 percent of the Buckeye offense.
The list will be narrowed down to five finalists in early March. The Lieberman Award winner will be announced during the WBCA Award Show in Indianapolis, Indiana at the Women’s Final Four.
“I am very honored to have my name associated with this award and the best point guards in college basketball,” Lieberman said. “Over the years we have honored many deserving floor generals and I’m anxious to see who comes out on top this season!”
