COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State point guard Kelsey Mitchell has been named the Big Ten Conference Player of the Week for her performances in the Buckeyes’ wins over Northwestern and Michigan.
For the week, the Cincinnati, Ohio, native averaged 29.5 points, 5.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds over the two games. She scored a season-high 33 points and dished-out seven assists while making five three-pointers in the win at Northwestern on Tuesday. Mitchell then posted 26 points to go along with five rebounds and three assists in the win over rival Michigan on Saturday.
This was the fifth B1G Player of the Week award of her career and the first this season. She was also named the CollegeSportsMadness.com Big Ten Player of the Week on Monday.
Mitchell and the Buckeyes will play a pair of road games this week starting with Michigan State on Jan. 10 and then at Purdue on Jan. 15.
