Buckeyes Come Back to Defeat Army, 59-56

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State women's basketball team snapped a three-game losing skid with a 59-56 win over visiting Army Friday night at Value City Arena.
The win moves Ohio State to 7-5 while Army drops its second straight to fall to 7-3.
The Buckeyes trailed 50-40 with 6:49 left in the game and appeared headed for their fourth straight defeat. But a Martina Ellerbejumper sparked a 9-0 Buckeye run to cut the lead to one with 3:42 left.
Army then answered with a mini run of its own, scoring the next five points to push the lead back to six with 2:23 left. But Ohio State's defense turned up the intensity down the stretch and didn't allow a field goal over the last 2 minutes of the game. Ohio State ended the game on a 10-1 run, hitting its last nine free throw attempts.
Army had a chance to win the game, but Kelsey Minato's layup rimmed out and Ellerbe grabbed the rebounds. Raven Fergusonthen iced the game with two free throws with 5 seconds remaining.
Ameryst Alstonled the Buckeyes in scoring for the third straight game with 18 points while hitting 8 of 9 from the stripe. Ferguson recorded her first career double double with 13 points and a career-high 11 rebounds while Ellerbe chipped in with 10 points and seven rebounds.
Army's Kelsey Minato scored a game-high 27 points, hitting 6 of 15 3FGs.
