COLUMBUS, Ohio – In Ohio State’s second exhibition game r this year, the Buckeyes rolled past Urbana by a score of 135-54. Stephanie Mavunga, Kelsey Mitchell, and Linnae Harper recorded double-doubles as five Buckeyes scored at least 20 points.
Urbana made five three-pointers in the opening period and hung close as the Buckeyes led just 33-23 after the first quarter. But in the second, OSU made 10-of-11 shots at one point and finished on a 25-2 run over the final five minutes to open up a 79-37 lead.
The second half was more of the same as the Buckeyes forced a total of 32 turnovers in the game and had 18 steals. OSU used its size advantage and led 70-10 on points in the paint and scored 47 points on the fast break. All nine Buckeyes that played scored and grabbed at least one rebound.
Ohio State will open the regular season on Friday, Nov. 10 when its hosts Stanford at 6 p.m. at St. John Arena. The game will be the first back in Columbus for Stanford Hall of Fame head coach Tara VanDerveer since she started her coaching career at Ohio State from 1980-85.
